The Journey

Sara Anne Fossum, Vyve CEO

Sara Anne Fossum is the founder of VYVE. She was born and raised in Stavanger and Sandnes, Norway, and has always been deeply concerned with issues like social inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, and the vulnerability of ecosystems. This passion has shaped her educational choices and professional journey. She moved to the UK to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Business and Sustainability at the University of Manchester. During her studies, she completed an internship at AstraZeneca, where she contributed to developing a sustainability strategy toward 2050. This gave her first-hand experience with the complexities of integrating sustainability into large corporate structures.

`After her bachelor’s, she sought a more systemic understanding of how sustainability can function beyond individual company initiatives—specifically, what a sustainable economy and society might look like. She found a unique, interdisciplinary Master’s program in Sustainability at the University of Sydney, Australia, which included subjects across business, policy, environmental science, and social studies.Alongside her studies, Sara started working for Laerdal Medical, where she later led the company’s sustainability work. Over five years, she gained deep insight into both the challenges and the strategic potential of sustainability implementation—across operations, governance, and business development.

During her master’s, Sara initiated a research project that later became the foundation for her thesis. She continued the project after graduation and published a report in 2023 titled: “How Can Businesses Thrive in a Sustainable Economy?”

Why Vyve Was Founded

After nearly a decade of experience in sustainability—from research to strategy to hands-on implementation—Sara recognized a recurring challenge in the market: most companies want to act on sustainability but lack the structure, tools, capacity, or knowledge to do so effectively.

Sustainability is often addressed at a strategic level, but it’s difficult to operationalize and integrate into the actual business model. There’s also a significant gap between intention and implementation—between reporting and real transformation.

Vyve was created to close that gap.
Vyve was created to close that gap.

The purpose behind Vyve is to help companies see sustainability not as a cost or burden, but as a driver of long-term value—for business and for society. Companies play a vital role in shaping the future of our economy, and Vyve exists to help them step into that role with confidence and clarity.
